Next month will see resilient women of the Shoalhaven celebrated and appreciated, when the seventh annual Shoalhaven Women’s Wellness Festival is held on Thursday, March 15 from 1pm until 6pm at Nowra Showground. The focus of the 2018 festival is Resilient Women: Embracing Life, Connecting Community.
It’s a special event for the Shoalhaven, run to complement International Women’s Day events, where women’s health takes centre stage in an accessible, non-judgmental fashion. The organising committee is a group of eight trailblazing women, however the festival would not be possible without support from volunteers, including community services students at Nowra TAFE.

Alison Murie and Louisa Sassen from lead agency Australian Red Cross said everyone was welcome to attend the day filled with information, entertainment and community spirit.
In 2017 the committee founded the Shoalhaven Women’s Wellness Fund which aims to offer financial assistance to community services supporting women and their families. This year funds will support local cancer and mental health services which support women and their families.
The fund has a pool of $5000 available which local organisations are encouraged to apply for. Applications close March 5. To obtain an application form and application guidelines please contact Alison Murie on 4428 4900 or amurie@redcross.org.au
