After dismising United for 77 at Lighthouse Oval on day one, Norths declared at 5/150 on day two – thanks to handy knocks from openers Jack Carter (65) and Luke Huard (45).
For United, the pick of their bowlers were Angus Rutherford (3/33) and Joel Turner (2/47).
The visitors were obviously hoping to claim maximum points with an outright win following their declaration, but United had other ideas.
Wes Holmes (75), Peter King (54) and Brad Field (39) all dug in and produced solid innings’, to help United reach 253, from 52.4 overs, in their second innings.
For Norths, both Damian Spelta (2/16) and Samuel Lowcock (2/30) both claimed two wickets, while Shane Bell, Lachlan Lamont, Luke Huard and Hugh Gillen all claimed one scalp in the second innings.
