He raised the issue off the cuff at a council meeting on Tuesday night, but Mayor Amanda Findley dismissed the matter as non-urgent.
Cr Wells will bring up the matter again, this time with a well-prepared brief, at the upcoming strategy and assets meeting.
“One thing the opening of freeway down to Berry has shown is we’ve had a dramatic increase of traffic,” Cr Wells said.
“That has manifested at the intersection of Jervis Bay Road.
“We have to work with the Roads and Maritime Services to build a flyover.
“I’ve personally witnessed accidents there.”
With development options in Jervis Bay expanding, the congestion is tipped to worsen.
“Council’s review of zoning at Crossroads identified other land that can be subject to rezoning,” Cr Wells said.
“Once landowners get their acts together, there’s going to be more large-scale housing developments in Vincentia.”
