Terez Benedek, 41, pleaded guilty to high-range drink-driving in Nowra Local Court on Friday, January 12.

Court papers said Benedek was driving a Ford Fiesta along Burrill Street, Huskisson at 8.50am on August 3 and while trying to negotiate a corner crashed into trees and bushes.

The papers said when police arrived, Benedek was sitting on the side of the road and the vehicle had suffered significant damage.

Officers said she was severely intoxicated, her speech was severely slurred and she had red, glassy eyes.

She also “smelt of intoxicating liquor to the point it was potent”.

A roadside breath test returned a positive result and a reading of 0.332.

A further test at Huskisson Police Station returned a reading of 0.282.

Benedek told officers she had only had one drink of wine at 3am.

Magistrate Gabriel Fleming fined Benedek $2000, disqualified her from driving for eight months and ordered she perform 200 hours of community service.

She must also have an interlock device fitted to her car for two years.
