Rangers were forced to turn visitors away, some of whom had travelled three hours for a Hyams Beach experience.

Some visitors ignored signs and tried to find a parking space anyway.

“Both traffic control and rangers directed traffic as best they could in an effort to keep traffic flowing,” ranger Colin Wood said.

 “Without them it would have been a very different story and most likely gridlock would have resulted.”

At the next ordinary council meeting, councillors will discuss a more permanent solution to the problem. 

However, council staff are satisfied with current measures in placed to ease the traffic problems.
