Shoalhaven mayor Amanda Findley encouraged beachgoers to avoid Hyams Beach and head to one of the region’s other pristine beaches.
“It’s gotten to the point where it’s hideous for the residents there,” Mayor Findley said.
“They’ve been suffering from pretty intense traffic.
“From memory there are 200-250 parks, it’s all street parking.”
Barriers and signs have been set up this weekend, advising the area is full.
Shoalhaven City Council rangers are patrolling the area to ease traffic problems.
Mayor Findley recommended Callala Beach and Bay, which has the same white sand, and peaceful bay without the congestion, and there are plenty of parking spaces.
