Police attached to the Shoalhaven Target Action Group driving an unmarked police vehicle saw the silver VW Golf driving erratically on the Princes Highway towards Nowra on Thursday, January 4.
The driver was swerving in and out of holiday traffic and allegedly in excess of the speed limit.
The vehicle was stopped in South Nowra where the 28-year-old driver was spoken to.
Enquiries revealed the man was disqualified from driving until 2020.
The man was subjected to a random drug test which yielded a positive result. The man was taken to Nowra Police Station where he underwent a secondary oral fluid test.
Police will take action for the traffic offences once analysis of the sample is complete.
The man will be required to face Nowra Local Court on a date to be fixed.
