Police and NSW Rural Fire Service crews from Shoalhaven Heads, Broughton Vale and West Nowra were called to a white Scania bus alight near the intersection of Morschels Lane around 2.30am on Saturday (December 9).
On arrival, fire crews were faced with the large-sized coach fully engulfed in fire.
Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, started an offensive attack on the blaze, with crews working for 90 minutes to completely overhaul and extinguish the fire.
All that was left was the charred remains of the coach, which attracted plenty of attention from motorists travelling past on Saturday until the vehicle was removed.
It is understood the bus, operated by a Highlands’ company, had suffered some sort of mechanical problem on Friday afternoon, with passengers transferred to another bus to continue their journey.
At this stage, police said the ignition point of the fire hadn’t been established but investigations into the cause were continuing.
