Leading the charge are newly appointed coaches for the three teams – men’s first grade and reserve grades as well as, for the first time ever, a women’s competition.
Glenn Keys is coach of the first grade side and will be assisted by Matt Barnes, with Brent Tyrrell to lead the reserves.
Kristie Lee Dickson will be the club’s first ever women’s coach, as the Tigers prepare for the inaugural AFLSC women’s season.
“I put my hand up to coach as I know first hand how hard it is to get a women’s team and competition off the ground,” Dickson said.
“Everyone at the club has made my job very easy, being so welcoming and supportive.
“The response by women in the Shoalhaven has been fantastic, with more than 20 athletes already committed.”
Dickson, who has been involved in the sport since the age of seven, is excited for the future of the sport.
“In our first year, I’m expecting the girls to have a lot of fun and build a foundation for years to come,” she said.
“This also provides a pathway for girls to go from juniors all the way up to the AFL women’s league, which wasn’t the case in the past.”
Training for all three grades has been running for two weeks and will continue until Christmas before returning early in the new year.
