The pursuit which started in Nowra CBD at approximately 2.30pm on Tuesday came to an end at the corner of Kalander and McKay streets in Nowra East.
The chase went up Berry Street, with several police cars pursuing a white Subaru Impreza.
During the pursuit an unmarked police car collided with a truck at the intersection of McKay Street and the Princes Highway. The two male officers and the truck driver were uninjured.
It is understood the Subaru continued on McKay Street and came to rest after travelling at high speed across Kalander Street, mounting a nature strip and colliding with a timber barrier.
Residents in the street in which the vehicle came rest said they heard a loud bang. One likened it to two trucks colliding.
Another witness, who was in her garage, said she couldn’t see Kalander Street because of the dust thrown up by the vehicle as it careered through Kalander Street.
Bystanders said the vehicle narrowly missed a woman pushing a pram across McKay Street.
The two male occupants tried to flee but were caught by police and arrested.
Police investigations are continuing. Statements are being taken from a number of witnesses.
