Shoalhaven trio take on Australia’s best anglers

THREE Shoalhaven anglers have qualified for the 2017 Hobie Kayak Bream Australian Championship to be held in Mandurah, Western Australia.

Sanctuary Point husband and wife Chris and Tameika Purnell and Arthur Amies, from South Nowra, will take part in the series nine national titles which will be held from November 16-19.

In fact Tameika is the only female from across Australia to qualify for the championship.

They will be among 45 anglers from across the country who have qualified through the national, 12 round series that started in January.

Tournaments were held in NSW, including one on St Georges Basin, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

The three locals all competed in NSW, Victoria and Queensland rounds

A team to represent Australia at the world championships (Amal Sweden, May 2018) will also be selected from this series.

Kevin Varty from Nowra finished third in the worlds in Amsterdam back in 2014.
