The Berry couple marked 60 years of marriage on November 9 and marked the occasion at Nowra Bowling Club with 20 family members.
The couple, originally both from Jaspers Brush, met at a dance and later married in Berry Uniting Church.
Their five children Keith, Linda, Wayne, Neville and Deidre arrived soon after.
A car enthusiast, Ray had a motor mechanic business in Berry for many years, and was a race car driver.
Every Christmas and Easter the family would pack up and head off an a camping adventure, although Ray made sure he never missed a day’s work.
The couple is heavily involved with the RSL community, with Ray the president of the Berry RSL and Evelyn the president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary.
The couple has 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Daughter Deidre said the secret to her parent’s long and happy marriage stems from their common interests.
“Every morning for the last 15 years they’ve gone out to the family farm at Jasper’s Brush and they both love that,” she said.
“It also helps that mum has always looked after dad.”
