Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis denied claims made by her political rivals on Thursday that the government was poised to cut 70 jobs from HMAS Albatross, a navy base in Nowra.

“Today’s claims by Labor opposition about HMAS Albatross job losses are wrong and misleading,” she said.
“There has been no decision to reduce or redeploy the Navy Aviation System Program Office workforce at Nowra.”
Shocked by the assertion made by Labor Gilmore candidate Fiona Phillips and Member for Whitlam Stephen Jones, Mrs Sudmalis immediately contacted the defence department office to investigate the issue on Thursday morning.
“This is an irresponsible, scurrilous claim by Labor that has needlessly worried members of the local community,” Mrs Sudmalis said.
