On Tuesday the Heads ladies were hosts to 17 visiting players from Catalina Golf Club Heads ladies were hosts to 17 visiting players from Catalina Golf Club.
The game played was an Irish Fourball with the teams a mix of visitors and home players.
The winning team was B Hardy, E Faith, F Percival and K Hansen who had a final score of 83 points.
They were followed by P Griffin, M Simmons, G Richardson and M Laud who scored 82 points. The third placed team consisted of M Van Doeland, E Davies, P Mackie and G Hughes with a score of 80 points. A very close fought competition.
The Heads Vets hosted 79 golfers at Thursday’s 2BBB + singles competition.
Winners were Phillip Behan and Bradley Sharpe, 49 points, with runners up, Keith Pepper and Keith Muller on 48 points. Singles winner was David Lamb with an excellent 43 points off a 10 handicap.
Runner up was Terry Smith (Shell Cove) with 42 points. Men’s D&P went to Alan Davies and both women’s D&P to Irene Robertson. Men’s NTPs were won by Trevor Duncan and Barry Beahan, with the women’s NPT to Maureen Hollis.
Balls were awarded to 34 points. Next Thursday’s competition is a 4 person ambrose, 8.30 shotgun start, and the Heads Vets AGM will be held at the conclusion of the competition.
Saturday saw 125 players turn up for a Single Stableford competition.
The A Grade winners were Stephen Jermyn on 42 points, Peter Barley on 38 points and Raymond Gonella on 37 points.
B Grade was won with 41 points for Trevor Harris followed by Adrian Lutton on 40 points and Chris Pasterfield on 39 points.
Gary Hawkes won the C Grade with a score of 42 points with Bill Ryan coming second on 40 points. Third place went to Warren Long who had 39 points.
The winning lady was Cheryl Grinlinton with 42 points.
All excellent score following the coring of the greens.Ross Graham, Marie Miller and Stephen Chegwidden won the Nearest the Pin and Daniel O’Neill won the Drive and Pitch.
Callala Country Club Veterans
A beautiful sunny day, although a little windy saw a good field of 33 players tee off in the 3rd round of the veterans championship.
The field was lead by Tony Pitt-Lancaster with a blistering 5 under par round of 63 nett, well done Mr. Reliable. The rest of the field came in as follows.

Well that's the third round done and dusted, many are hoping it's the one they can wipe as only 3 rounds count.

There was twelve of us at the Country Club this morning, on a very warm and wind free Saturday.
The course is in great condition and one of our members found it much to his liking, that was GG coming in with a great 24 stableford points. Next was Haggis with 23 points then Tommo with 19 points on a countback from BB and Benyomin.
Nearest the pin on the 10th went to BB and the 15th went to Kiwi.
It was noticed hat Rocket Ron did not wear the hat that was talked about in last week’s news article, apparently he tried to sell the hat to a kid up the road but the kid said and very cheekily, you have to be kidding mister I wouldn’t wear a hat like that, so Ron took it out to the Shoalhaven river and drowned it.
Popular member WD40 is in Shoalhaven hospital we all send our best wishes for a quick recovery. Next week’s game is at Vincentia hit off at 8am.

The final round of the Men's Club Championship was played at Worrigee Links last Saturday and I'm pleased to announce this year’s winners.
Congratulations to our 2017 Men's Club Champion Mick Edwards, who successfully defended his title from last year to defeat a quality field of contenders with a very solid round of 73 off the stick.
Playing in the seeded draw, Mick recovered well after scoring a 9 on the seventh hole to win his second Club Championship. The Runner up in the A Grade was Kev Pattison who had the days best scratch score a Par round of 70 to also win the A Grade nett on the day with a 62. The final results of are as follows..

Last Thursday's open Comp was won by Kealen Blattner with a good score of 41 points. The Runner up was Rod Carpenter on a countback from third placed Mick Liddy, both on 40 points.
This Saturday is a single Stableford event.

Wednesday was our annual Pink Day with all proceeds going to breast cancer. The men as usual joined in and I must say, they did look pretty in pink and a great day was had by all.
With 38 starters, the winners were; Nargaret Mills and Ilita Sesum (64) ahead of Mhairi and Andrew Rostron (66) and Pat and Alex Leach (66.5).
Drive and pitch awards; Aoauli and Jamie (third), Aoauli and Jamie (10th), Lyn and Peter Loveday (11th) and Aoauli and Jamie (14th).

Marlins def Squaws 11 games to nil. Matt Goozeff had the maximum six finishes and Peter Wood had five. Phil Reeves had the high score of a great 180. Squaws Gloria Liddicoat and Kristel Kenny managed to take a leg from Pirates. Kay Dowell had the high score of 133.
Bandits def Devils 10 games to 1. Shane Pritchard, Ken Flentjar and Trevor Hay all had five finishes each. Trevor had the high score of 140. Devil’s Julieann Maney won her singles and Kerrie Dempsey had the high score of 121.
Eagle’s def Exservicemen 10 games to 1. Mick Coggins had five finishes and Justin Ganderton, Peter Vider and Georgie Hansen all had four. Justin had the high score of 135. Exservicemen’s Hank Baxmann had three finishes and the high score of 140.
Mohawks def Misfits 8 games to 3. Pat Duke and Darren Brudenell had four finishes each. Darren and Ian Green had the high score of 140. For Misfit’s Matt Craig, Ken Kelleher and Danny Watson all won their singles. Matt had the high score of a great 180.
Fishos received a forfeit from Taipans.

29th Oct is the return visit to Dapto, names on back of sheet by the 20th Oct. It’s time to return all perpetual trophies, so please get them back in. Don’t forget to fill your sheet and get your money in for Presentation night 16th Dec. There is a meeting and SDA drawn pairs on the 18th Oct.
Shooting
Nowra Rifle Club
The Queens Prize shoot is an annual event run by the NSW Rifle Association. For the past 141 years, shooters from all over the country have gathered to compete in this event held at the ANZAC Rifle Range, Malabar NSW.
This year four long-range marksman from Nowra Rifle Club competed in the F Class event. Rob Sperring, Tom Doxford, John Faulkner and Ron Ware.
Between the four, they managed to amass 35 medals plus prizes.
Rob Sperring, Gold 6, Silver 6, Bronze 3. Tom Doxford, Gold 4, Silver 4, Bronze 3. John Faulkner, Gold 3, Silver 1, Bronze 3. Rom Ware, Silver 1, Bronze 1.
The five-day event shone for Rob Sperring. Rob won the two-day McIntosh event followed by the 3-day Queens event hence he took out the Grand Aggregate, first place. A clean sweep. He left the ANZAC Range with a carload of trophies, medals (15 in total), prizes, and prize money.
Tom Doxford was not too far behind Rob. Tom was placed second in the McIntosh match and second in the Queens. Hence, Tom was second in the Grand Aggregate. Tom’s medal count was 11.
John Faulkner was competing in Division A in F Class. John was placed 12th in the McIntosh. However, not to be outdone he put in some very consistent shooting in the Queens and took out first place. In all John’s medal count was seven.
Ron Ware suffered some equipment issues but at no stage gave up. Ron managed to pick up one Silver and one Bronze medal.
Well done to the Nowra Rifle Club Long Range Rifle Marksmen.
