A crew from 808 Squadron at HMAS Albatross landed their MRH90 Taipan Helicopter, call sign Poseidon, at the Silos Estate at Jaspers Brush.
Under the guidance of pilots Lieutenant Commander Steve Brown and Lieutenant Howard Jackson and aircrewman Petty Officer Dean Kinna the students were given a first hand, up close look at the helicopter, which navy only took possession of a couple of weeks ago.
From entering the aircraft up the rear loading ramp, to strapping into the transport section in the aircraft to even sitting in the pilots’ seats the students got to experience everything.
Seaman Haimanot Goodall, who is completing a 12-month gap year in the RAN, was also part of the tour operations, while personnel from Opstar, who support the navy with search and rescue and medical support, were also on hand to show off some of their equipment.
