THE official opening of Lyrebird Park’s new goal posts was conducted on Saturday, July 29, by Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis. The original posts were erected in 1971 and although still functional, were dated and not in keeping with the authorised Australian standard specifications.

The Nowra Warrior Junior League committee sought to replace the posts, and applied for various grants to raise the needed funds. The major grant was provided by The Stronger Communities Program Grant instigated by Ms Sudmalis.
The two sets of posts are named and labelled after two Nowra Warrior life members, Les Harris and Noel ‘Nana’ Nelson (deceased).
Harris proudly opened the goal posts alongside Ann Sudmalis and a group of u11 Nowra Warriors players. The opening took place during a final round of Group 7 junior league and a home game for the Warriors.
Thankyou to Ann Sudmalis and the Shoalhaven City Council who dismantled and erected both sets of posts.
