Knickerboxers at Nowra hosted to event, where entry was by a gold coin donation, with the proceeds going to the local arm of charity Look Good Feel Better.
“It is about helping women following their chemotherapy and their radiotherapy to feel better about themselves – how to put on eyelashes, wear a wig, wear makeup,” Knickerboxers owner and registered nurse Rita Sullivan said.
“It’s a wonderful service that is provided in the Shoalhaven.”
It means they can go shopping and feel complete.

Mrs Sullivan said the Nowra store was only one of three across NSW to stock the extended range of Amoena mastectomy products.
“It’s such a coup for the Shoalhaven, it is such a feather in all of our caps, not just Knickerboxers, but the ladies of the Shoalhaven who have been supporting us and it’s wonderful to think we’ve got a wonderful huge range of pocketed bras and fashion in Nowra,” she said.
“It means they can go shopping and feel complete.
“There’s pretty, there’s comfortable, there’s sexy, there’s sensible, there’s sporty, there’s sleepwear.”
Mrs Sullivan said guests were surprised by the range of products.
“So many of the ladies were taken with the swimwear, they had no idea there were so many styles and products for ladies who have had mastectomies,” she said.
“They kept saying ‘when I had my surgery, there was nothing like this’.
“This is huge for the ladies of the Shoalhaven to know they can come to a local store and be fitted – everyone here is trained for mastectomy and prosthesis fittings.”
Amoena territory manager for NSW and ACT Melissa Craig said it was a wonderful asset for the community.
“Knickerboxers and Amoena have been partners for 15 years, and we’ve offered our partners the option for a huge selection of our products to be displayed on our Amoena wall and we’ve had many ladies join us today for a high tea to be able to see the range,” she said.
