Cancer effects all families in all different ways and over recent years, cancer has had a great effect within the Shoalhaven community – so both clubs believe it is an honour to give back to such a great cause.
“The Wreck Bay Football Club is strongly committed to providing awareness for indigenous and non-indigenous people in our community about cancer - using football as a vehicle,” Wreck Bay Sharks FC president Bernie McLeod said.
“Our club has a strong emphasis on promoting a healthy living lifestyle for our future generation by promoting awareness on health-related issues around us.
“Our community has been hit hard with cancer recently and we would appreciate everyone’s support by wearing a pair of pink socks for this event.”
The day will start at 9am at the Wreck Bay Sharks home ground at Vincentia (behind the Bay and Basin Leisure Centre), with the junior teams playing before the charity match at 12pm.
Throughout the day there will be a barbecue and cupcakes on sale, a gold coin donation for a balloon releasing, plus a jumping castle and ceremonial dancers.
There will also be a raffle and donation boxes, with all proceeds raised will be donated to the Cancer Council.
