It was an amazing Sumo night, and we were privileged to have Tony Butz honorary life member of Bushido Shoalhaven and martial arts historian as special guest.
Students were captivated by Tony’s presentation as were the parents. Tony is a retired history teacher and the most intelligent and intellectual person to have any sort of conversation with.
This event was incredibly exciting and successful night. All the children and parents, president of the Community Centre Jenny Edwards and Rob Bell and Ken Murphy, all from the Community committee, attended. Everyone found the night very enjoyable, engaging and fun.
Thank you to all the club coaches Ken, Casey, Elisha, George, and Tony for your support in controlling the 50 or so students on the mat.
All credit goes to Darren and Tony for organising this event with Danny as a backup to make it happen.
“We were happy to organise the Sumo night presentation,” one of our main instructors, Darren, said. “We want our members to have a fulfilling learning experience which encompasses many of the aspects of judo.”
A detailed booklet with a lot of information was given to each family to keep as a souvenir of the night’s activities. If anyone is interested in learning judo, ring 4448 8494 or visit us at the Community Centre at Shoalhaven Heads on Tuesday at 5.30pm.
