‘Balehenge’ was installed in front of the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre on Monday, May 15.
Made up of 42 wire bales and filled with 500,000 cans, Avalynne Wilby from Shoalhaven City Council said the display aims to raise awareness of recycling.
“What would have gone into your recycling bin over the last few months is now a bale on the lawn at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre,” she said.
The council project has been six months in the making, with around 40 people from different departments pitching in to help bring it together.
It will be on display until early June and will feature in the Shoalhaven Environmental Expo on May 30.
The free event will run from 10am to 4pm at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre and will be a day of entertainment, involvement and environmental discovery.
There will be interactive displays, workshops and information on recycling, composting, energy reduction and water saving.
