Civic Disability Services, a leading provider of disability services in New South Wales, will reopen the North Nowra store after it closed its doors on May 5, 2017.
Slice of Life Australia (SOLA) director Karen Anstiss cited “ongoing financial struggles” as the reason for closing the general store and other businesses run by the organisation.
A Civic Disability Services spokeswoman said they wanted to ensure the continuation of employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the Shoalhaven.
“Civic is looking to generate further opportunities in the area including offering accommodation to people with disability and collaborating with local community groups and local council to deliver supports to Shoalhaven residents,” she said.
Mrs Anstiss said in a statement she was grateful the store would continue to provide employment for the disabled.
“I’m truly grateful to Civic for opening their hearts to Slice of Life and broadening their footprint into the Shoalhaven,” she said.
“I’m so happy that the unique and outstanding SOLA business will continue to provide a place for people with disability in the Shoalhaven area to work, learn new skills and gain independence.”
The General Store, located at 82 Illaroo Road North Nowra, will be renovated before the official reopening in July.
Civic has provided services to adults, youth and children with intellectual disability and/or mental illness for almost 60 years.
