Green won the division one event by five lengths to become the series leader after the first round of the 2017 interclubs.
Green was comfortable in his starting bunch throughout the 47 kilometre race and drove the leaders hard into the final two kilometre climb to the finish until he burst from the pack inside the final 300 metres to take the victory.
This was the first event in the 2017 Southern Regions Interclub series.
Other events will be held at Albion Park, Oakdale, Yerriyong and Bundanoon with the promoting clubs being Goulburn, Illawarra, Macarthur, Nowra and Southern Highlands.
While Green was a clear winner in the division one race Michael Berriman was caught right on the line to run second in the division two race on the same program.
Berriman had bolted away from the lead bunch with a kilometre remaining and was looking like the winner until Macarthur’s Daniel Woodhurst chased him down to take a half length win.
Nowra Velo Club’s Michael Thompson was fourth ahead of club mates Hubert Driehuis and Dave Gray.
From the back of the handicap field a strong chase that included NVC’s Aaron Lauder and Phil Rice had not closed the time gaps but Lauder cleared out from the backmarkers chase in the last 500 metres to take the fastest time prize.
Other NVC riders to finish near the front of this race included Alice Lauder, Gary Bryce, Tony Kuiper and Richard Vitiello while Mark Astley was a back marker in the division one event.
Astley rode a strong race driving the chasing groups hard to the finish where he finished outside the prizes.
The Illawarra Cycle Club will host the next event in the 2017 interclub series in June with a start at Albion Park.
The Nowra Velo Club returns to local racing next Sunday with round five of the Optus series as a handicap event on the Braidwood Road course with an 8.30am start from Wugan Street in the Albatross Aviation Tech Park. Note that all Nowra Velo Club events now start at 8.30am.
