Sunday 12th March 2017 was just too good to stay at home. The weather bought out 49 members and 2 visitors for a morning of mixed social bowls.
Eight games of Mixed Social Triples bowls were played and enjoyed on the Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens Sports Club greens. This was followed by a scrumptious sausage sizzle and salad followed by sweets. Raffles and Lucky Door Prizes were drawn with a relaxing drink.
A great day was had by all

A week of fine weather has resulted in large attendances at games. On Wednesday, two Social games of Triples and 5 of Pairs were contested. Saturday saw the 3’s at home against St. Georges Basin and the 6’s away at Sussex Inlet Bowling Club for the Pennant matches.
Wednesday 19th April A beautiful bright day had the greens rolling at a medium pace with a slight breeze from the South East.
Rink 1 saw Tommy Smith and Graham Mills make one of the greatest comebacks on record. Down by 7 shots to 15 they stormed home at the finish to win the game on the last end by 18 to 16 shots
Rink 2 held another game of Pairs with John O’Dell and Eddie Lee finishing strongly to crush their opponents by 25 shots 9.
Rink 3 A strong game by the Edwards brothers resulted in them playing some magnificent bowls to decimate their opposition by 19 to 12 shots
Rink 4 witnessed the game of the week. John Newbold and Trevor Wright get away to a comfortable start by winning the first end by 2 shots. Joe Wright and Trevor Politch burst into the game by winning the next 4 ends, one by 4 shots to gain a great lead of 10 to 2 shots by the 6th end. Not to be outdone, John and Trevor W dug deeply into their bag of tricks and won the next two ends with a 2 then a 3 shot end to just be trailing by 7 shots to 10. Joe and Trevor P steadied the ship with a great 2 shot end only to see John and Trevor W score a 4 shot end, followed by a 1 shot win to tie the game at 12 all on the 11th end. Joe and Trevor P then took control of the game and won the next 3 ends by a shot each. John and Trevor W showed a tonne of fortitude to claw their way back and tie the game at 15 all on the 16th end. A terrific 1 and 2 shot end by Joe and Trevor P resulted in a great lead but a fantastic three followed by a single shot win put John and Trevor W in the lead on the penultimate end by 19 shots to 18. Who could dig deep enough to win the game? Would John and Trevor W continue their run or would Joe and Trevor P put in an outstanding end to snatch to game? Joe Wright and Trevor Politch put in an outstanding end to win it by 3 shots and the game by 21 shots to 19. A truly even and exciting display of lawn bowling gentlemen!
Rink 5 resulted in Bert Madge and Dooley Gould playing extraordinary bowls to overwhelm their opponents by 26 to 12 shots.
