The Cooee Hotel Van Goghs have been on a roving mission for the last two years as they filled a spot in the third grade draw where they were narrowly defeated in the 2016 grand final.
The boys are determined to go one better this year and, under experienced coach Steve Glenday, are preparing to put in the extra effort required to ensure success this year. Steve's work as coach of the Combined High Schools team gives him a great foundation.
Former coaches Shaun Bugg and Ian Cook will take on assistants role and newly elected President Ross Earby is excited about his new role.
"Presiding over the combined Van Goghs , Van Gones , Van Girls, Van Goers (Under 10's Juniors) and the Van Gones Instrumental and Choral Ensemble (V.I.C.E. Squad) will be a pleasure as we establish ourselves as the premium sporting and social club in the Bay and Basin area," Earby said.
The Third Grade players have begun preseason training at the Leisure Centre on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 6pm and are always looking for new players to join the fun and hard work. The Van Gones continue to play touch on Thursday nights with as many as 40 players, kids, sons, daughters and fitness fanatics joining the fray. Young stars interested in playing in u10s or u12s can contact the club through Facebook or ring Scott Ball at the Jervis Bay Tourist Park.
