The winner of the prize will be announced this Saturday at the Australian Surfing Awards in Newcastle.
World-champion Wright will go up against Laura Enever and Macy Callaghan for the award, while Mick Fanning, Mark ‘Mono’ Stewart and Matt Wilkinson will go head-to-head for the male’s prize.
Ulladulla’s Russell Bierke is also in contention for an award, going up against Felicity Palmateer and Jamie Mitchell, for the Milwaukee heavy water award.
Callaghan is also nominated for the rising star award, along with Ethan Ewing and Sabre Norris, while Colin Gow, Jack McCoy and Jim Banks will contend for the Peter Troy lifestyle award.
Others awards include ABS greater good award, surf culture award, Simon Anderson club award, surf photo and video of the year.
