The preferred option will outline key features proposed for the upgrade such as the location of the new bridge, proposed lane numbers and proposed upgrades at the Princes Highway intersections of Illaroo, Bolong and Bridge roads and Pleasant Way.
Although not openly confirming any new bridge over the Shoalhaven River would go to the west (upstream) of the current crossings, RMS has stated the western option is the preferred route.
Until those plans are finalised, RMS will continue to maintain the old Nowra Bridge, including scheduled maintenance work next month after minor cracking and corrosion in some of the piers was discovered.
Inspections have been carried out to help develop plans to carry out the work, which is expected to start in late March and take about three months to complete, weather permitting.
