Trail bike rider airlifted to hospital

A WEST Nowra trail bike rider has been airlifted to hospital following an accident on a bush trail.

The 36-year-old was riding a red Honda XR 250 trail bike at 1.20pm yesterday in bushland 500 metres off Yalwal Road in West Nowra when he lost control.

Police said the man was going over a jump when he lost control on the loose gravel and was thrown over the handlebars.

Although he had no broken bones, the man suffered deep lacerations to his back and was flown by ambulance helicopter to St George Hospital.

Ambulance officers said his condition was stable.
