South Coast Dairy factory celebrated their official opening on Saturday, with over 100 of their shareholders, staff, customers, suppliers and supporters in attendance to mark the occasion.
The milk processing facility aims to supply high quality and fresh dairy products to the local market.
“To us, dairy farming is not just a job, it’s a passion,” Director Paul Timbs said.
“Our dairy farmers have carefully selected their herds, nurturing their health and well being on arguably some of the richest pastures to be found anywhere in Australia.
“These key advantages result in, what we believe to be, premium quality milk that is the absolute freshest available.”
South Coast Dairy has vowed to provide a sustainable farm gate price for their suppliers.
“We are very excited about our future at both organisation and farm gate level about becoming a progressive regional premium dairy processor and developing a larger market share in Southern NSW,” Mr Timbs said.
“South Coast Dairy products are currently retailed throughout most major supermarkets in addition to smaller supermarkets, stores and coffee shops from Wollongong to Merimbula.
“Our select range of premium quality products includes traditional full cream, skim and lite milks in addition to our organic line. We anticipate extending our product range in the near future to incorporate flavoured milk, butter, cheeses and increased organic range.”
Another of South Coast Dairy’s visions is to offer steady employment in the area. To date, they have surpassed their original plan of employing four processing staff to now employing eleven full-time, 14 casual staff members in addition to a contracted milk distributor.
“Since commissioning the processing facility in May 2016 we have increased milk sales by 54 per cent,” Mr Timbs said.
“South Coast Dairy is becoming a leader within the industry and the business community of Shoalhaven due to passion and focus on offering quality products and increasing public demand.”
