The Breakers didn’t miss a beat, as they defeated Manyana 3-1 at Gerringong Oval on Saturday.
Breakers’ coach Craig Farquhar said he said he was happy to get all three points, as it was Manyana’s ill-discipline that cost them points in this clash.
“We hit the lead after 25 minutes when Brad Boardman finished a well-timed pass by Gary Vian,” Farquhar said.
“It was a tough start to the game but I though our lead was well-deserved.
“But once we scored, Manyana stepped it up and to be honest, I was happy to go in to half-time 1-nil up.”
Manyana continued to push after the resumption and got their equaliser 15 minutes in to the second half.
“Once they equalised, bot teams had chances to win the match but couldn’t take finish them off.
“The pivotal moment was when one of their players received their second yellow card for the match.
“It gave us an edge and Andy Lockard pushed forward and scored the goal to put us back in front.
“With about five minutes remaining, they had another player sent off, this time with a straight red card.
“Then purely because of the numbers advantage, we sealed the match with a third goal, set up by Rhyley Foenander and scored by Matt Jones.
“My men of the match were Foenander, who keeps improving each week and Andy Lockard, who is having his best season for some time.”
The win sets up a mouth-watering clash between the competition’s two top sides on Saturday, Gerringong and Culburra.

“I’m glad we had a game after the bye to fine-tune before Culburra,” Farquhar said.
“It is without out biggest game of the year and will give us a true representation of where we are at.
“Notoriously, the matches between us and Culburra have always been of high quality and I expect this Saturday to be no different.
“They have a great attack, shown by the goals they have scored this season and sit on top of the ladder for a reason, not to mention they are reigning-premiers.
“The boys are looking forward to the clash and I know they will be up for it, especially in front of their home fans.”
