The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Flood Watch for the Shoalhaven River Valley. The Bureau forecasts very heavy rain in the catchment of the Shoalhaven River Valley and smaller local streams and coastal lakes over the next 24 to 36 hours. The rain may be heavy enough to cause localised flooding in low-lying areas.

If this weather system intensifies, flooding could develop on the Shoalhaven River. If so, the Bureau will issue Flood Warnings predicting flood heights at the Nowra Bridge.
If Flood Warnings are issued, the State Emergency Service will release Flood Bulletins to tell you about the situation and what you should do to protect yourself, your family and your property. Please listen carefully to these Bulletins.
Any flooding will initially affect low-lying areas and flood-prone local roads. The SES advises that people in the Shoalhaven should watch the weather and look out for flood waters near their properties. Farmers located on the floodplain should be ready to move pumps, other equipment and livestock if floodwaters rise.
It is essential that people avoid walking or driving through floodwaters, which could be deeper or faster-flowing than they look. Children, in particular, should be kept away from streams and stormwater drains.
