Anthony White now calls France home and is a full-time artist.
White uses landscape and architectural references to work across disciplines of drawing, painting, collage and sculpture.
His works are often characterised by an awareness of surface and a preoccupation with the engagement of physicality and the found object.
He has exhibited widely over the past decade including recent solo shows in Paris, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Sydney, and group exhibitions focusing on Australian contemporary painting in Sydney, London, Hong Kong, Paris and Brisbane.
White has also been awarded a number of International commissions and residencies, which have been influential in developing his body of work. He was also a finalist in the 2015 Summer Exhibition at The Royal Academy of Arts, London. His inclusion in the Paris Salon wraps up a successful year.
For selection in the salon, each artist had to present their work to the jury. The salon committee consists of over 35 of France’s most distinguished artists. Art works can be allusive, conceptual, concrete, geometric, gestural or lyrical. In recent years, there have been approximately 350 to 400 artists per Salon. This includes about 250 painters, 90 sculptors, engravers and 30 works on paper (drawing and photography).
Since 2008, under the chairmanship of Olivier di Pizio, the Realities Association News and Salon has been expanding its community and New Realities concepts outside of France, internationally in Belgrade and Beijing. The association is composed of sculptors, painters and printmakers and is chaired by Olivier Di Pizio. The term Realities Nouvelles (New Realities) was originally created by the poet Guillaume Apollinaire in 1912 to refer to abstraction as the form to best express modern reality.White is represented by The Cat St Gallery, Hong Kong and Metro Gallery, Melbourne.
