IT was heartwarming to see the interaction between Bob Aulsebrook and a group of Bomaderry Public School students recently when he officially presented them with one of his hand-made benches.

Many of the school’s support students lined up to shake Mr Aulsebrook’s hand and they then invited him to come into their classroom – an invitation he accepted.
Mr Aulsebrook recently turned two huge pieces of Bunyah Pine into a couple of impressive ornate benches.
He did not want to keep the benches and wanted them to go to a deserving cause.
Following a South Coast Register Facebook post asking for suggestions, Mr Aulsebrook decided Bomaderry Public School and Wreck Bay resident Bernie McLeod would get one bench each.
Mr McLeod, in turn, will give the bench to the Booderee National Park’s botanic garden.
The bench, by mid next week, will be placed in the garden’s Green Hut near where a Bunyah Pine grows.
Meanwhile, Mr Aulsebrook loved seeing the students from Bomaderry Public’s support unit.
“If the students get a buzz from the benches then that is all I want out of it,” Mr Aulsebrook said.
Some of the students have autism and they like to touch and feel the bench.
The support unit is making an under-covered area near a sand pit for the bench.
Parents, teachers and carers will be able to sit on the bench and watch the children play.
Staff member Lorrae King said Mr Aulsebrook’s donation was wonderful.
“It’s overwhelming that someone in the community would do something special these special children,” she said.
It took Mr Aulsebrook eight weeks to make the benches.
