Violet received the award for her tireless work with the children at Nowra East Public School and her role as a foster care parent over the past 40 years.
Violet has been arriving at Nowra East Public every morning for the last 12 years, serving breakfast to more than 100 children every day as part of the school’s Breakfast Club Program.
Nowra East Public will hold a special celebration on Thursday to celebrate Violet’s achievement.
Grandparents Day provides the opportunity to recognise the unique role that grandparents play in our homes and communities, with many going above and beyond the traditional grandparent role.
The South Coast Register spoke to Violet in the lead up to yesterday’s win and shared her experiences as a grandparent and mother to so many children in the community: A mum to all
