“However, we need urgent action on police numbers in Wagga and Nowra which are both desperately short-staffed ... We owe it to local police and these communities to secure a commitment from the government on the allocation of General Duties officers to focus on priority areas including the Wagga Wagga and Shoalhaven Local Area Command where police officers are over-extended and additional resources are required. Local police are at breaking point and these communities are suffering due to a lack of police numbers. This needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency.”
It’s fantastic to see this huge issue finally coming out more. People in the Bay and Basin have been crying out for additional policing for years, but have been continually ignored.
I fully support the Shoalhaven Branch of the Police Association and the Police Association in the push for additional police officers for the Shoalhaven Local Area Command. The sooner we have 24/7 policing of the Bay and Basin, the better, which will also have beneficial outcomes for residents, businesses, police officers, and everyone all over South Coast.
