The boy was seriously injured in a car accident on Bolong Road, Coolangatta in April, suffering head and spinal injuries.
His treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick is continuing and the fund-raiser will help with medical expenses.
Jake’s family and friends have organised the local fund-raiser at Bomaderry Bowling Club on Saturday, August 30 to help pay for ongoing treatment and equipment he will need once he leaves hospital.
Event organiser Kerrianne Kennedy said Jake was still not well enough to leave the hospital for the fund-raiser.
“He still has a long way to go but he is making progress every day,” she said.
“He now has the strength to be able to sit up.
“He is doing physio every day and when he eventually comes home he could need specialised equipment.”
Ms Kennedy said she has been working on ideas to raise more money on the night to go towards a specialised car.
“His family will need a car with wheelchair access so we are hoping we may be able to help with that in some way,” she said.
“Everyone is really looking forward to a great night.
“We will be staging a number of major auctions and have some awesome items such as holidays, signed sporting memorabilia, including a fully signed NSW State of Origin jumper from this year’s victorious side, a signed Souths’ jersey and a Greg Inglis signed photograph.”
Ms Kennedy said the support for Jake has been touching.
