A CORRECTIVE Services officer charged with taking prohibited items, including drugs, into the South Coast Correctional Centre in South Nowra appeared in Port Kembla Court on Wednesday.

Scott Duncan Moreland, 43, of Shellharbour, entered no plea when he appeared before Magistrate Stoddart, charged with two counts of trafficking a drug into a correctional centre, two counts of corruptly receive benefit, two counts of supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug and goods in custody.
Moreland was arrested by officers attached to Strike Force Kubax on July 8.
Police allege Moreland was stopped as he entered the jail on The Links Road at South Nowra around 7.30am.
The officer was searched and police allegedly found 150 tablets in a heat-sealed pack.
A search of his home in Shellharbour allegedly located cash and drugs.
Earlier this year investigators attached to the Corrective Services Investigation Unit began inquiries into claims prohibited drugs, prescription drugs and various items of contraband were being introduced into a correctional centre in return for payment.
Moreland’s conditional bail was continued and he will appear at Nowra Local Court on September 16, with a brief of evidence required by September 9.
