THE final of the minor singles was played at St Georges Basin on Sunday afternoon in perfect conditions and it was Rob Reid up against Dave Lawrence, Dave held the early advantage to lead 13 to six but Rob fought back well to take the lead and went on to win the final 31 to 25.

Well done to both Rob and Dave on a high class final and a big congratulations to Rob on winning the minor singles in his second attempt.
The final day of our winter carnival was played last Monday and it was the men’s triples and the winners were Alan Askew, Peter Bobrige and Jamie Thelander with 4 + 31,second went to Nev Hutching, Ken Burnham and Ron Long with 4+ 19 (on countback), third Bernie Sparks, Rob Reid and Alan Bennett 4 + 19, fourth Bill Rayner, Anthony Barca and Jamie Freeman 3 + 26, fifth Marinas Brookvanhooven and Bill Benson and in sixth was Bob Wood, Nick Folwer and Mark Hobill 3 + 8.
The AM prize went to Geoff Flood, Mick Sheridan and Lindsay Flood + 7 and the PM prize went to John Dunn, Kevin Dunne and Paul Davis + 14. A big thank you to everyone involved over the three days and to The St Georges Basin Country Club and Tooheys for their great support.
The first round of the minor pairs was played on Saturday and the winners were Brian Shaw (sub for John Dunn) and Bernie Dowling 21 def Dave Munro and Will Hatgiantoniou 15, Bob Duncan and Nev Hutching 22 def John Tysoe and John Payer 21, Steve Smith and Clive Polley 23 def Matt Goward and George Thorpe 8, Barry Edwards and Dave Robinson 15 def Phil Nuttall and Clarrie Hawking 14, Don MacKenzie and John Bossini 27 def Charlie Walker and Dave Capon 14 and Rob Reid and Bernie Sparks 21 def Greg Faulkner and Joe Oliverio 18. The minor pairs will continue this coming weekend.
The first of our mixed championship entry is up. The mixed pairs will commence in early August and the entries close late July so find yourself a partner for that. The next Murphy Family Funerals and Aveo Live Well all day triples is on Monday 11th August you can either contact Rob at the bowls office or see the notice board for details.
Wednesday social winners were Fred Dewhurst, Charlie Bananno and John Tysoe, runners up Ray Pendlebury and John Payer and the lucky losers prize went to Bill Pigg, Herman Linnenbank and Dave Capon.
Friday social winners were Joe Attard and Maurie Dyke, runners-up Ron Long and Ralph Klapp and the lucky losers Bill Shaw and Kevin Stobbart. The Bay and Basin Automotive jackpot of $130 did not go off......Jamie T.
