JUST like Brazil, Bomaderry may never be able to completely erase the embarrassment of being on the wrong end of a 7-1 loss, but there is no doubt they made up for it on Saturday.

Bomaderry responded to their huge loss to United in the best possible way, by completing a 4-nil rout of Illaroo at Bomaderry Oval on Saturday.
Coach Doug Foley resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes after last week’s poor performance, instead giving their players the chance to redeem themselves.
Aside from a few positional changes, Matt Kellett coming back in to replace the injured Kevin Jackson was the only change and the show of faith paid dividends.
Bomaderry made an ideal start when Mick Hampton put a pass into the box for his brother Dave, who found the back of the net after just four minutes.
An arm wrestle ensued for the remainder of the first half, where both sides had chances go astray and it remained 1-nil at the break.
Bomaderry coach Doug Foley said they spoke at half time about being more clinical and actually finishing off their chances, which is exactly what happened.
Cameron Nelson scored their second from a header in the first 10 minutes of the second half and they got some breathing space when Ben Foley put Matt Kellett through to score their third.
They made it 4-nil when Cameron Nelson ran straight through the middle, before going on to find the back of the net for his second.
Bomaderry coach Doug Foley was understandably happy to be back in the winners’ circle.
“We made a pact before we started to improve, do the little things right and then let the rest take care of itself,” he said.
“Scoring the first goal definitely relieved a bit of pressure, but we really wanted to make sure we didn’t drop off.
“Even when we were two goals up, it was very important to keep the pressure going and I think everyone felt pretty comfortable when we made it 3-nil.”
Foley conceded they won’t forget the loss to United anytime soon, but said they definitely felt a lot better after the win.
“Last week was embarrassing for everybody, so this has definitely given us a bit of confidence,” he said.
“I gave them a chance to prove their worth and everybody lifted their game.”
Foley picked Blake Munilla and Cameron Nelson as their standouts, but stressed there were no weak players on the day.
