Last week’s win over Milton-Ulladulla kept the Superoos in touch with the top five, but they cannot afford many losses if they want to stay in contention, while a loss for the Lions could see them slip out of the five.
Neither side, particularly the Superoos will have forgotten the last time they met, when the Lions gave them a 70-10 shellacking.
There is no doubt the Superoos will be keen to avoid a repeat of that day, but they will have their work cut out for them trying to beat the defending premiers.
Gerringong are probably lower than on the table than they would like to be, but can still easily be a contender for the title.
With a number of injuries and players having been involved in representative commitments, last week’s bye can only be a good thing for the Lions, who should be refreshed and ready to go this weekend.
