The Friday morning roll up started nine months ago and was arranged by Alan Gardiner and Disability Services Kia Slaughter.
With an average of 10 bowlers participating each week some of the special equipment required by the wheelchair bowlers was manufactured by Alan with both small indoor carpet bowls and regular size lawn bowls used by all.
The Wednesday social games were played in the best bowling conditions we have had for quite a while.
The rink draw prize money was won by Steve Sankey and John Rudd with their 23-22 win over Jeff Brownjohn and John Slingsby.
There were several very competitive games played with Ron Shoveller and Geoff Blackshaw defeating Danny Nash and Ian Carre 16-13. A pair of Collins, Christie and Wilson, defeated Gordon Webber and Trevor McGuire 16-13 and on rink nine Peter Dwyer and Roy Burke had a win against Gary Hasting and Bruce Fletcher 21-17.
In the last game played Wednesday John Castellan and Gary Melleuish were defeated by Dennis Foster and Jim Hibbert 24-15.
Friday’s social bowls afternoon had over 40 members playing pairs and triples. The first rink draw prize was won by Barry Epple and Brian Rosen 30 defeating Lawrie Nash and John Humphries 15.
Second prize money went to Max Ford and Rick Neilsen who defeated Kiro Pavloff and Ian Carre 23-16. The third rink draw went to Max Tout and David Tinsley who won 26-5 over Rick Turton and Arthur Eagleton.
The jackpot was won by rink elevens game with Rick, Arthur, Max and David sharing the dollars. The meat tray winners were Gary Melleuish, Barry Epple and Ian Carre.
This week our mixed pennant team travel to Gerringong to play Huskisson. Last week Culburra was defeated by Nowra ½ - 3½.
The draw for the major-minor pairs championship was finalised last Friday, check the bowls office foyer for details.
Ryan and Wayne Chalmers will represent Culburra in the S.C.D.B.A. state championship of club pairs champions at Nowra on Sunday July 20.
Jim Hibbert will play in the S.C.D.B.A. state championship of club singles champions at Bomaderry on Saturday July 12. Good luck to all our reps.
Rumour has it that our president must have more money than he needs as he paid his club fees twice. Another senior committee member is also a worry as he wrote both receipts for the preso.
Sixteen Saturday socialites enjoyed their afternoon with the triples game between Trish Mundy, Trish Bailey and Daphne Watson who defeated Carol and Geoff Blackshaw and Bert Watson 19-8 to win the rink prize money.
