Due to no junior hockey for the school holidays, the men’s match between Burrawang and Shoalhaven Heads started the day.
Burrawang run out easy winners 8-4 thanks to a huge five goal haul from J. Donavan.
S. Broomfield (2) and J. Mauger (1) made up the eight from Burrawang, with M. Burke, A. Smith, L. Butfield and O. Sigal the scorers for Shoalhaven Heads.
In the second men’s match of the day the Kangaroo Valley men were too strong for Allsorts, winning 3–nil.
The strong Valley defence was built through young Nick Crawford in goals, who had a blinder of a match and put his body on the line to make some thrilling saves.
This allowed Valley forwards to combine well and pressure the Allsorts defence.
Older brother Alexz Crawford was on the right spot to convert all three of Valley’s goals.
In the only women’s match to take place, Allsorts Green defeated Shoalhaven Heads Maroon 9-1.
Vanessa Phelan picked up a hat-trick and was closely followed by Eleanor Dodd (2), Kristy Clement (2), Vanessa Lloyd (1) and Sarah Wakeford (1).
Michelle Nellestein was able to get Heads on the scoreboard and scored their only goal.
Heads defender Jo Faulkner gave her best all game with great tackling.
Faulkner was supported by Carol Bond and Erin Pavitt.
There were some close games on Tuesday night in the men’s competition which saw Bluejays 4 (A. Mackay 2, C. Mackay, M. Dockrill) defeat Allsorts 2 (A. Lloyd 2), and Kangaroo Valley 3 (C. Hindman 2 S. Brown) defeat St Georges Basin 2 (B. Macdonald, V. Macdonald).
