Hiring a bus made easier

SHOALHAVEN City Council has combined with a number of organisations to create the Shoalhaven Transport Register, a brokering system aimed at providing transport for local community groups.

Under the scheme, community members who own minibuses and larger buses allow their vehicles to be hired when they are not being used.

Annual membership costs borrowers $110 per year and also provides added insurance, which covers the vehicle when it is being hired by a community, and a booking service.  

Borrowing organisations are required to provide their own qualified drivers and return the bus with a full fuel tank of petrol.

Daily hire costs – bus 14 seats and over – $95; van seating between seven and 13 people – $65; people mover seating up to seven – $45. An administration fee of $30 is also due at the time of booking the bus.
