The work is being done between Worrigee Street and Emporium Lane on the eastern side of Berry Street.
The upgrade included construction of stormwater drainage along the eastern edge of the street.
Safety issues with the footpath were raised in the Register last year after a number of people reported tripping on the uneven surface.
The new completed surface is smooth, ground concrete finish with art deco-style inlays.
Kerb and guttering is complete and work has started on the footings for a retaining wall to run around the alfresco area.
During the construction period, parking between Dick Smith Electronics and Worrigee Street will be restricted to construction vehicles only.
