The call comes after an incident on the weekend that has left a 13-year-old rugby league player in a serious condition after being allowed to play on following a knock to the head.
Former Sydney Roosters team doctor and Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) spokesperson Dr John Orchard said it was crucial all junior sporting codes had personnel trained in the recognition and management of concussion and are aware of the recommended guidelines in relation to return to play.
