TRAFFIC came to a standstill on Greenwell Point Road on Friday afternoon after a tip truck delivering landfill clipped powerlines, bring live wires down across the road.

The mishap occurred about two kilometres west of Greenwell Point, effectively blocking access into and out the town for more than an hour.
Police and Rural Fire Services brigades attended the scene and placed a roadblock at the corner of Greenwell Point Road and Pyree Lane.
At one stage traffic was banked all the way from the accident scene to Pyree Lane.
It remained at a standstill for about an hour until energy workers arrived to fix the problem.
