Cost of gas set to rise

HOUSEHOLDS already affected by rising living costs are set to be slugged again, with regulated gas prices to increase between $155 and $225 from July 1.

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) released its final decisions on average regulated retail gas prices for 2014-16.

The final prices for ActewAGL, which supplies South East NSW, including the Shoalhaven, will rise by 17.8 per cent in 2014/15 and 0.4 per cent in 2015/16.

The 2014/15 increase adds an extra $223 to an average residential customer’s annual bill and $861 on average for small business customers.
