Kinghorn Motor Group Girls Day Out is the Shoalhaven City Turf Club’s highlight of the year and will be held this Sunday at the Archer Raceway.
Eight races will run with race one under way at 12.23pm and the last race at 4.35pm.
Racegoers won’t want to miss the feature race, the $30,000 Nowra Cup, with the $20,000 Belle of the South for Fillies and Mares always a popular addition.
Organisers are hoping for good weather this year after no races were run at the 2013 event due to a wet track.
The Nowra Cup was then contested in November 2013, with Cambewarra trainer Robbie Price taking the top gong with Ramsays Curse.
The Girls Day Out is the third and last instalment of the Autumn Racing Carnival, which kicked off in January with the Kids Day Out.
The Nowra Cup will be the final round of the Telstra Business Centre Nowra Autumn Racing Carnival Trainer’s Premiership.
Current leader is Marc Connors on 36 points followed by Donna Grisedale on 32, Diane Poidevin-Laine 28, and Leanne Aspros on 24 points.
Price is flying the flag for local trainers in fourth place on 22 points.
“The course is looking absolutely fabulous and is currently a good (3),” Shoalhaven City Turf Club CEO Lynn Locke said.
“It [Girls Day Out] has been running for 11 or 12 years and has grown into our biggest day of the year. It is a day for racing, fun and fashion.
“What has been great is that Kinghorne Motors has always been the main sponsor of the day, so it is always great to have their support and have them on board.”
But the day is not all about horses, with a major focus placed on the fashions on the field competition.
The Stockland Nowra Fashions on the Field will be contested over four categories; fashionable filly (18 to 35 years-old), glamorous lady (over 35s), magnificent millinery and coolest couple.
Over $10,000 worth of prizes will be up for grabs.
The 2015 NSW Firefighters will be there and will be selling the latest calendar as well as open to photo opportunities.
The turf club is running a Buy Local/Live Local promotion where if you buy your racing outfit or accessories from participating stores, provide receipt, live locally, are over the age of 18 and at the races on Girls Day Out, you could win $1000.
Participating stores are Sahara Boutique, High T Bridal, Mojo, Tilly Lane, Kerry’s Clothes, Ed Harry, Connor, Miscellaneum, Knickerboxers and Alluring Jewels.
There will also be a lucky door prize, where everyone who enters the Girls Day Out will be given a ticket and the opportunity to win a four night cruise complements of My Travel Experts and P&O Cruises.
