Bad weather keeps Culburra anglers away

TERRIBLE weather kept most anglers away from round 11 of the Culburra Beach Amateur Fishing Club’s competition.

Despite this, 18 anglers set out, weighing in 14 different species, including flathead, leatherjacket, morwong, snapper, wrasse, red rock cod, trevally, gurnard, salmon, tailor, luderick, bream, kingfish and whiting.

For deep sea  Jesse Jackson finished first, Luck King second, Margaret Roth third, Rod Trueman fourth and Kerry Oldfield fifth.

In beach rock and estuary  Corey Heferen finished first, Ron Cook was second  and Sandra Cook was third.

No juniors weighed in.

Fish of the month is salmon and the best at time of print was Margaret Roth at 1.115 kilograms.

There were no records this month.

The club’s next competition is May 3 and 4 and the fish of the month will be leatherjacket and must be 25 centimetres.

See you in round 12.

Rodless, weighmaster.
