Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club secretary David Lamb welcomed the funding.
“This funding is very welcome because it will allow us to update a 30-year-old irrigation system which will in turn increase the efficiency of our watering system,” he said.
“Importantly for the club, it will also significantly reduce our electricity cost.”
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward presented the funding to the club and said that he was delighted to announce funding for grassroots sport in the local community.
“I feel very strongly about looking after Shoalhaven Heads and important local assets such as the golf club,” he said.
“I see this grant as an investment – not a cost to government. We need to encourage everyone from all walks of life to stay healthy and enjoy everything our local community can offer.”
Ward encouraged sporting groups and local councils who were considering improving sporting facilities or starting a new program aimed at increasing participation, to apply now for round two of the program.
Applications close on Wednesday, April 2.
