Child sex case adjourned

A FORMER Catholic priest, who worked in the Shoalhaven in the 1970s and is charged with five counts of indecent assault against children, has had his bail continued.

Robert Flaherty, 70, who now lives at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains, appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, with the matters adjourned until April for further mention.

The offences were alleged to have taken place in the Shoalhaven and Sydney up to 40 years ago, with the alleged victims aged between 11 and 15.

Detectives from Blacktown Local Area Command established Strike Force Nemesis to investigate the allegations.

Flaherty will reappear in Parramatta Local Court on April 9.
